If you have a Single User license for SDL Trados Studio Freelance and you do not succeed in returning your license in the normal way, you can use the Self Service option in the SDL Customer Center to reset your license. See Activate Your Product for more information.
You can now activate your product using the activation code. Follow the prompts for returning your deactivation certificate for your SDL product using the copy of the deactivation certificate that you have. 
Switch to a computer that can access the Internet and log onto your "My SDL" Account.
Return the deactivation certificate (License):.The View Deactivation Certificate page is displayed. Click the View certificate from last deactivation link.When you start the SDL application, the Product Activation dialog box is displayed on the Product Activation page.

If the activation code has been removed from the local computer but the activation code is still registered as 'in use' on the SDL Activation Server, follow these steps:. If you formatted your hard drive or encountered a hardware crash, contact our Support Team by creating a request. Contact the person who is managing the SDL licenses for your product and can access the information on the "My SDL"Account If you do not know whether your activation code is in use by another user in your company, check this. 
Afterwards use the activation code on the new environment in which you have installed your SDL software.
If you forgot to deactivate your activation code on the PC/Server/Virtual Machine and want to activate it on the new environment, deactivate the activation code first.
